03 April 2020 – Head of School Address:
As we approach the Easter break and finish our second week of school closure, staff have been rapidly preparing for our changing education landscape. The current situation is not a situation we could have ever planned for and will test all of us over the next few months. As a ‘Good’ School we will rise to the challenge and continue to support our young people in their development journeys.
Thank you for your support as we try to establish a clear learning pathway for all of our students. This will look very different from anything that has ever happened before and it is essential that home school communication remains strong so that our young people are not educationally disadvantaged through these unprecedented times.
I have written to those parents whose children are in receipt of Free School Meals, please respond to the letter and sign up for the national voucher scheme. If you believe that you could be eligible for Free School Meals please contact the school on email@example.com
To date many of our students have successfully engaged with the work that has been set by our teachers, well done! After the Easter break, students that are not engaging with the work will be contacted by the academy and will have to complete any missed work when we return to school. Please can you ensure that your child is completing the work set, if you have any concerns about the work contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
I am firmly encouraging all students and staff to enjoy a period of rest over the Easter holidays to recharge their batteries and to get ready for making the most of this challenging situation. We can not allow our young people to fall behind, we must work in partnership to ensure that they are continuing to learn and make progress.
School will continue to be offering childcare ONLY for children of key workers and vulnerable students who cannot be safely cared for at home. The government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and for schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need it. If you do require support with childcare please notify UAK by 5pm the day before you need childcare. Contact details email@example.com
Please take care of each other and stay safe and stay at home!
