Please see the following statement form John Chuter, the Academy’s Chair of Governors.
This is to let you know that from 3rd May 2017 I will be resigning as Chair of Governors at UAK.
I took on the Chairmanship in December of last year on the understanding that it would be for a short period only. My task was to establish a new governing body following the decision by Wakefield City Academies Trust not to go ahead as UAK’s new sponsor. That is now complete and it is time for me to stand down. In the interim Joanne Marshall, the Vice-chair will stand in as Chairman until the next governors’ meeting on 15th June when a new chair will be confirmed.
During the six years I have had the privilege to serve as a UAK governor I have been impressed by the resilience, cheerfulness and spirit of all those who work, learn or in other ways are connected with the Academy. This has helped me and the governors get through the good as well as the not so good times that we all have experienced on occasions. Looking to the future UAK is in good heart and although there are significant challenges ahead I am confident that they will be successfully tackled given that “can do” spirit. All that remains is for me to wish you all the very best going forward and I shall continue to follow your progress with great interest.
With all good wishes for the future
