Positive Progress 8

We are proud to be recognised as one of the most improved schools in the region in the recent (March 24th 2017) Yorkshire Post article- Top of the Class.

The article identified some of the highest attaining (top 150) Secondary schools in Yorkshire in the 2016 according to their Progress 8 score.

In early March 2017, the Department for Education released the official figures for its new measure for school performance- the Progress 8 Score.

University Academy Keighley is very pleased to announce a score +0.02, which places the Academy in a very positive position; regionally the average Progress 8 Score is -0.15.

This new way in which schools are measured records the progress every student makes from the end of primary school to the end of secondary school. Everyone at the Academy welcomes the Progress 8 Score, which is a fairer measure of a student’s achievement and recognises their starting point when tracking progress.

We are delighted with the improvements that have been made at the Academy and congratulate all our school community who have worked hard to achieve this wonderful success.

We are very fortunate to have very good support from our families and our sponsors, the University of Bradford and Bradford Council.  Together we aim to inspire our students to enjoy learning so that they develop into inquisitive, resilient and successful young people.
