Number Day proved a successful first event for our new Student Leadership.
Members of the Academy’s new Student Leadership Team- representatives for Charity, Events and Numeracy, managed to crunch the numbers for the NSPCC on Friday 3rd February.
The student team organised a day of events to raise money for the charity’s Numbers Day appeal, starting with a morning bake sale and sweet stall that raised £105. Students were also asked to collect spare change, for donation, and a penny stacking competition took place in the afternoon. In ‘addition’ students were encouraged to test their mathematical skill with a number quiz devised by Sixth Former, Faiza Asghar. This involved students not only answering mathematical equations but then locating the member of staff displaying a badge for the correct answer. Our winners for this were Radiyah and Nadiyah Iqbal.
4 buckets of coins were collected so it may be sometime before we manage to get that all counted for a grand total!
