Families joined students and staff here at UAK for a celebration of Christmas on the last day of term (Friday 15th Dec).
The event was organised following the success of the Eid Celebrations in July and by request of the student body who wanted to celebrate Christmas in the same way, with their family.
Diners of all ages enjoyed a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings, including a halal option, provided by the academy’s kitchen team.
The celebration started early with staff leading a good sing-along to Christmas songs around the tree at break time. Staff and students had also donned their best festive woollies in aid of the NSPCC Christmas Jumper Day.
Academy spokesperson, Shirley Cooke Said: “UAK is a community-focused school and events like Christmas and Eid are a fantastic opportunity to foster new links by inviting people into the academy. It’s also great to see that our staff and students have come in their festive jumpers, it’s created a nice atmosphere. Quite a few of the children have remarked on how the school has made an effort, and they have really appreciated it.”
