UAK is celebrating its best ever results, which show continued improvements in standards of achievement for Year 11 students. There have been significant improvements in the headline measures in English and mathematics, with 48% of students achieving the new grades 4 – 9, compared to just 16% in 2015. Many students have made very good progress at the school with some notable impressive individual student performances from Keiran Khaliq (9A*/A grades), Sabah Jabin (8 A*/A grades), Usman Rauf (7 A*/A grades),Sarah McQuillan, Kiran Ali and Hasina Khan (6 A*/A grades).
Academy principal, Bernie Addison, stated: ‘This has been a very exciting year at UAK and we are delighted with the achievements of all our students. There have been many changes to GCSE courses and we are so proud of how our students have coped with these challenges and worked hard to achieve really high grades. I would like to thank our hardworking staff team and our sponsors, the University of Bradford and Bradford Council, who have supported the improvements at UAK. There have been a lot of changes at UAK and we have been really fortunate to have had really good support from parents and families, who have worked with us to ensure that every single child’s educational experience at UAK is high quality. We have further improvements planned for 2017 -18 and we are looking forward to an ambitious and exciting year ahead’.
The 2017 results see continued improvement at UAK, which was recently recognised as one of the most improved schools in the region following a dip in its results in 2015. Since then, Ofsted have commended the school on taking effective steps to improve the attainment and achievement of all students with the results in 2017 indicating that changes at the school are having the desired impact upon the quality of education.

We are delighted to announce our sixth successive year of improvement in A level results here at University Academy Keighley. The percentage of students achieving grades A*-B in all qualifications has risen to 53%, whilst the proportion of students achieving 2+ grades A*-B has more than doubled since 2016 to 54.5%, with an overall student pass rate of 100% at A2, for all subjects. Moreover, a positive value added measure on progress, demonstrates that all students have made excellent progress based on their starting points at GCSE.
Our special congratulations go to our top performing students. In A Level Courses, Aneesa Hussain, attained A, B, Dist.*, Dist.* in her four subjects, she will be reading Ophthalmic Dispensing at Bradford and Akeeb Riasat who attained an A in Chemistry, B in Maths and C in Biology, In BTEC Business and ICT Courses, Amin Ali, Rabool Islam Ali, Selina Hussain, Foyaz Malik and Zahid Nawaz all achieved three Distinction* awards. The Academy is extremely proud of all students who have once again achieved a brilliant 100% pass rate at A Level.
APS and UCAS points are up again this year with more of our students accepted onto courses at their first choice university. A large number of our students have chosen to study courses close to home this year at either our sponsor; The University of Bradford, or Universities in the city of Leeds. The courses chosen reflect the range of skills and experience the students have gained whilst studying here at the academy. Students are choosing to go into the fields of Law, Business and Finance, Human Resources, Health and Education.
At AS Level we would also like to congratulate our top achievers. Mohammed Adnaan and Zara Taj who both attained grade A in Social Sciences. We are extremely proud of all student achievements in AS examinations this summer and we look forward to their continued success next year.
The 2017 results see continued improvement for the Sixth Form at UAK. The overall attainment and achievement of our students reinforces the Academy’s continued commitment to success for all students and demonstrates the expert teaching and guidance of our staff and hard work and determination of our students.
