University Academy Keighley is celebrating some excellent GCSE results today, which show significant improvements compared to last year. There has been nearly a 100% improvement in the headline measures in English and mathematics with 33% of our students achieving A* – C grades, with many students achieving top grades across a range of subjects.
In addition to this remarkable achievement, every single student at UAK has achieved qualifications and most students have made very good progress from their starting points. According to the new measure being used in schools this year – Progress 8, on average, every student at UAK across every subject, has gained a quarter of a grade higher compared to how students perform in other schools in the country. This also constitutes over three quarters of a grade improvement compared to last year.

Fifth Successive Year of Improvement
We are delighted to announce our fifth successive year of improvement in A level results here at University Academy Keighley. The percentage of students attaining grades A*-A has increased this year, with an overall student pass rate of 100% at A2, for all subjects. Moreover, a positive value added measure on progress, demonstrates that all students have made excellent progress based on their starting points at GCSE. All students have successfully secured first places for courses at chosen Universities.
Our special congratulations go to four of our top performing students. In A Level Courses, Zachariah Hayat, who attained A grade in Mathematics and B in Further Mathematics and Sonya Hussain who attained an A grade in Health and Social Care and goes to Leeds Beckett to read Early Childhood Education leading to QTS. In BTEC Business and ICT Courses, Mariyam Malik achieved three D*and will be reading Television and Film Production at University and Salma Bibi who also attained three D* and will be reading Law with Criminology. The Academy is extremely proud of all students, once again achieving a brilliant 100% pass rate at A Level.
APS and UCAS points are up again this year with more of our students accepted onto courses at their first choice university. A large number of our students have chosen to study courses close to home this year at either our sponsor; The University of Bradford, or Universities in the city of Leeds, however the courses chosen reflect the diverse range of skills and experience the students have gained whilst studying here at the academy. Students are choosing to go into the fields of English, Law, Business and Finance, Marketing, Health, Sport, Psychology and Education, however they are also choosing the fields of Media, Computing, Games Design, Television and Film and Software Engineering.
At AS Level we would also like to congratulate our top achievers. Akeeb Raisat who attained grade A in Chemistry, Aneesa Hussain and Naila Hussain who both attained grade A in Citizenship. We are extremely proud of all student achievements in AS examinations this summer and we look forward to their continued success next year.
The 2016 results see continued improvement for UAK Sixth Form. The overall attainment and achievement of our students reinforces the Academy’s continued commitment to success for all students and demonstrates the expert teaching and guidance of our staff and hard work and determination of our students.
