1/2 Marathon Challenge

University Academy Keighley Student Eric Beaumont vowed to run 13.1 miles for Comic Relief.

Ready for the OFF (L-R) Chris Dring, Eric Beaumont, Mattew Dudley The 14 year old , who is also prominent in the Keighley & Craven Athletics Club’s Juniors, and a keen fell runner asked to take on this task, not only to raise money but to challenge himself physically too.  The Half Marathon was a significant target for the youngster as official Half Marathons are not open to under 16’s.  This was something Eric was keen to accomplish as it was a personal challenge for him.

Victory lapEric who was accompanied by Mr Dring and Mr Dudley with additional support from Mr White, undertook the 13.1 miles on the Academy track then joined the canal towpath, running to Bingley and back!  He accomplished the 13.1 miles in just 1 hour and 58 minutes and was welcomed back by fellow students for a lap of honour.
